If you have a bit more time to spend on your music lessons at home, there are a few things you’ll want to be aware of to help you make the most out of Prodigies.

Maybe you’re homeschooling, unschooling, or just ready to commit more time to music lessons at home… either way, here are a few tips to keep in mind to help you maximize your #HappyMusicing…

  1. A subscription or Lifetime Membership to Prodigies includes access to all of our videos. These video lessons will do the heavy lifting when it comes to teaching core music concepts. Use these to guide your pace and lessons, and don't worry if you don't have a musical background. Mr. Rob and Ms. Sam will take care of that!

  2. You'll notice that the General Music Chapters each contain 8 weeks lessons. This is designed for music classrooms that tend to meet once a week for about 40 minutes. We recommend using a similar pace and practicing 2-3 times per week before moving on to the next week. Remember, practice and repetition is completely normal and encouraged. If your child is finding a lesson too easy or slow it's okay to move on. Or if they're not quite getting it, keep practicing before moving on.

  3. Take advantage of those Resources on the Play page. We also have workbooks and songbooks available for purchase. There is a complementary workbook chapter that goes along with General Music video chapter. You can work back and forth between these pages. These include lesson plans as well! The Songbooks are Sheet Music provide great practice with reading music without a scrolling video screen and challenge the student to work on keeping rhythm without the video's guidance.

  4. The Printables section under the Resources tab has more printable materials that can turn your homeschool setting into a music classroom with materials such as Hand Sign Posters, Prodigies Calendar, Bell Mat, Character Cutouts, and more.
