Which membership is for me?

This article explains which membership is best for you, depending on the ages being taught, setting and your learning goals.

We offer two primary options, each designed with different types of learners and teaching environments in mind. Here's a quick breakdown to help you choose what's best for your situation.

Prodigies Music - Best for Families and Homeschoolers

If you're looking for lessons to practice with at home, the Prodigies Music membership is the way to go. It includes:

  • Playtime Prodigies: an easy primer for your youngest learners

  • Prodigies Music Level 1: Chapters 1-8

  • Prodigies Music Level 2

  • Instrument Series: recorder, ukulele, and piano

  • All video collections: genres, concepts, playlists, and more

Plus full PDF access to all print materials: workbooks and lesson plans, color-coded sheet music, and printable activity pages.

This membership is perfect for homeschool families who want to explore a deeper, more comprehensive music curriculum over time.

PK-5th Grade Standards-Based Curriculum (Designed for Schools and Classrooms)

Our PK-5th Grade Curriculum is tailored for elementary music teachers in classroom settings, although some families also upgrade to this option to follow lessons by grade. It's aligned with national music standards (NAfME), and expanding to individual state standards, and organized by grade level for easier planning and pacing.

It includes:

  • PreK through 5th Grade video lessons, 36 weeks per grade.

  • 2-3 core video lessons per week

  • Teacher-facing PDFs for planning, plus printable worksheets and sheet music.

  • Materials arranged for classroom pacing, especially for teachers seeing students once per week in 20-30 student groups.

While the lesson content overlaps with what's in Prodigies Music, the PK-5 curriculum reorganizes and simplifies it to better fit school schedules. It's built to help teachers hit grade-level targets with less overwhelm.

If you're teaching in a classroom, Prodigies PK-5 is structured specifically for your needs, with a lighter weekly load and straightforward pacing that works for larger groups and limited class time.

What's the difference between Prodigies Music and PK-5 Curriculum?

For families, we generally recommend the Prodigies Music Membership. It's designed with homeschool and family learning environments in mind, where parents can work more closely with one or a few children and often spend more time on music each week.

The Prodigies Music Membership goes deeper into music theory and musicianship, with most General Music chapters including 4–6 lessons per week. In contrast, the PK–5 Curriculum was specifically designed for elementary school classrooms, where teachers may only see students once per week and are often teaching 20–30 students at a time. Because of this, the PK–5 Curriculum moves at a slower pace, typically with 2–3 video lessons per week.

The content between the two programs is very similar. Much of the material from Prodigies Music is included in the PK–5 Curriculum, but it's organized differently and spread across multiple grade levels to better fit a school setting. The PK–5 Curriculum is arranged by grade, while Prodigies Music is organized by chapters, which also makes it a better fit for families who want to start before Pre-K age.

Additionally, our homeschool kits and workbooks are designed to align directly with the Prodigies Music chapters. We've found that homeschooling families often spend more time with the lessons and move through more of the content, which makes the membership a great fit for their learning style.
